A Legacy of Authentic Mexican Flavor

A Legacy of Authentic Mexican Flavor

Taquerias Atotonilco has been serving the vibrant flavors of Mexico since its founding in 1972 by Don Jesús, a gentleman from Arandas, Jalisco. Nestled in the heart of Little Village on 26th Street, Don Jesús' passion for authentic Mexican cuisine quickly turned the taqueria into a local favorite.

A New Beginning

A New Beginning
After five years, Don Jesús decided to step away from the restaurant, and Raul Muñoz, who had delivered ingredients to the taqueria, saw an opportunity. When the business was for sale, Raul and his brother Oscar took over, preserving the tradition of Mexican cuisine in Little Village. Raul’s wife, Norma Muñoz, played a crucial role in the restaurant’s success with her dedication in the kitchen and commitment to quality, helping Taquerias Atotonilco continue to thrive.

Expanding the Family Tradition

Expanding the Family Tradition
As the Muñoz family expanded the business, Oscar opened a new location on 47th Street and launched his own brand of tortillas, Atotonilco. Raul, Norma, and their children have since grown the business to include locations in Joliet and Stone Park. From our beginnings on 26th Street to our expansion, Taquerias Atotonilco has always stayed true to its roots, offering authentic Mexican food made with love and high-quality ingredients. Our commitment to excellence has been our mission for decades.
